    Default 2015 WTAC thread

Very excited to see what's going to go down this year.
Lots of teaser shots from the front runners started floating around the interwebz lately.

I'd really love to see Under Suzuki putting his S15 at the top spot but would be A okay with the PMQ Evo doing the same.
Andrew posted somewhere that the aero package on the S15 is now almost complete to the way it was designed to be, it just took long to build because it's a small team, and to think how close Suzuki-san was to the top spot last year already!

Good thing WTAC is all the way in Australia!

    Edit -
World Time Attack Challenge takes place in Sydney Motorsport Park once a year around October.
It is considered to be *THE* #1 time attack event, the one where all the craziest cars are prepared for.
There are a number of prep levels and at the top sits sits the Pro class with the fastest time attack machines around.

One thing that pops out at me with the newest updates on that car - it really looks like they literally took the canards right off the Nemo Evo and put them on Suzuki's S15.

We have the Lyfe Motorsports team from the USA to root for as well in the Pro class this year. Very cool to see a US team shipping over to Australia for this, especially a local SoCal bunch of guys. I believe this may be the first year one of the fastest West Coast time attack cars is actually going to WTAC. Lots of talk from other fast teams over the years of possibly making the trip, but AFAIK it never happened. I know that the GST Impreza guys had talk/plans of attending WTAC this year, but at least as of now they aren't confirmed for it.

Tilton, the MCA hammerhead, Under Suzuki and PQM will be the bunch to beat. Can't help myself but to be watching with fingers crossed for Suzuki.

As up-to-date pics start leaking out of the cars, this thread is a great place to post them *hint hint*

The US team has been a sore subject in the last couple of years.
The ARK Design R32 Skyline was there last year, and to say that it was a last minute effort is to understate how much of a last minute effort...
Unlike 2013 which saw the car loaded on a shipping container and then loaded to the wrong boat only to pop up in China instead of Australia (terrible luck), in 2014 the car was shipped to WTAC before it was even completed.
Unfinished and untested, the team worked around the clock in Australia when the car arrived there but ultimately failed to complete one lap.
A bit of a sad joke...

The Lyfe GTR, is a well tested, proven, fast machine.
I am looking forward to see how they stack up against the top dogs.

My dream team from USA would be FXMD NSX, GST-L, SSE Evo, World Racing Scion, and Lyfe Motorsports GTR.

The PMQ Evo is as much of a work of art as it is crazy fast.
The composite work on that thing is spectacular.

It will be interesting how the SVA Imports Evo does. They will be representing the UK. I wouldn't rule them out of getting on the podium in Pro Class. They have more experience with the newly allowed Nitrous than any of the other teams in Pro Class.

I saw the video you tried to post. The sound of a three rotor at full song never gets old!

I will be honest, I do like the rules more for U.S. Time Attack. For example, limited class/modified class, which is akin to WTAC's open class, is much looser in terms of aero modifictions, as flat floors are not allowed in Open. It is more practical to run a car creative aero solutions with a stockish engine set up, versus a car with limited aero and heavy engine development. The latter is even more apparent for the pointy end of the Club Sprint class because the aero rules are even more strict for that class. I think part of it to though too is that SMP has a very long straight, so power makes a BIG difference in lap times.

I have to disagree with you.
Can it be that your perspective is not taking into account any professionally developed aero?
At the level of competition in the US, nearly 100% of all competitors' aero work is an amateur effort, some are better than others.
Have everyone doing a full CFD modeling work, build the result of what's shown on the screen and test it in a wind tunnel and I can assure you that your aero budget just had to increase MANY times over.
This is not going to be any cheaper than the raciest race engine..
