The reason Rob is curious is that he wants to know if the fast guys are serious enough about SPM to build/buy cars

Will was driving "Sampson". One of Alex's rentals, chassis formerly owned by Shawn Sampson. That's one of the cool things about SPM. Rent, buy, build your way to a front running car is easy.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.
But obviously I just dont get it. -fatbillybob

+1 for Alex's rentals. There aren't many race car rentals out there that can be run at the front.

Well.. yeah. If I move over to SPM, that doesn't really mean much. If SPM starts drawing people out of SM, that's huge.

I'm still in an awkward spot where I'd like to race my SM with NASA, but not sure if NASA can come up with good fields this year. Cal Club's officals make a great case for never running with them again. SPM looks better and better.

What's going on with your vette this year Carl? You should think about buying a supermiata. They are a great way to practice racecraft and an amazing bang for the buck, especially with operating costs.

My vette is fine. I got an opportunity to do SCCA majors races all around the country. My car leaves for NOLA end of February and will return after the runoffs at Daytona in October.

This was Alex's car? If so, its the one I ran to the podium on my first ever SPM race.

We had a new kid joining us, Will. He claims he is a Spec Miata driver (I don't believe him, as he didn't have any contact this weekend)...........very good driver, came close to winning, but since he doesn't own a Vette, he can't possibly be that good

Will Rodgers was my sons Padawan... And a very good up and coming driver. When we built our 01 Spec Miata Will drove our 1.6 at all the Mazda teen challenge events and NAsa Nationals at Sonoma and did well. Sharing data and following Joey on Test days really helped. He is trying to find his way in racing and is working on some pro type rides, but I felt he needed some more time in a Miata.

It is my belief that a 1.6 spec miata is the toughest of all the spec miata's to drive, it has no grunt and you have to ring it by it's neck to run up front. It makes driving a 1.8 miata much easier to transition to.

He is a great kid and has some real talent

Yeah that is the same car, very nice car as Jim can attest to. I was thinking about moving to NB's but now want to stick with my NA hence the sale...

Do I need to have a racing license to do SPM or can I just show up and start driving how I do in Gran Turismo? (Very poorly)
    Do you understand?

And if Aaron okays you, then you have to pass a "check-ride" before your first race.
