What does that have to do with laptimes though?

Maybe he means that if you are confident that you have all the best safety equipment, you can drive faster, because you are not afraid that you will kill yourself if you crash or roll.

I guess that might be worth 100hp or so

    I admit I did it,

But one thing I really dont understand, when I attended enduro race in Thailand, and so as all touring car races in southeast asia have their windows up or half way up when racing, from what I remember, in BTCC cars and the GT cars too which they use plastic windows.

When you roll a car and your window is down, your arm may get tossed outside the window and that will end up in more severe injury.

It was Aaron's call. SV rules call for windows down...in case the car crashes and glass window splinters get all over the place.

As for the arms flailing outside the window...I dunno...I guess the risk of a window splitter in your eye outweighs that risk.

I'll make sure that Aaron addresses this in the drivers' meeting before the next S2K Challenge event so participants aren't caught off guard.

I just don't understand how William has all the news about an event without having been present at that event. William's first post in this thread dated before I even got home on Sunday.

William is like a girl...news is instantaneously transmitted through some sort of conduit that men have no idea how to use. ZAP!!!

Isn't the glass specifically designed to shatter in a way that it doesn't produce sharp edges? I think the point is to get you out in a hurry without having to go through laminated glass, which could take up to a minute. A minute in a wrecked, burning car is like an eternity.

On a side note, what is the likely advantage of running with the windows up? Especially in an S2000 with a soft top, I would think that running with windows up would reduce aerodynamic drag by quite a bit. Is the advantage anywhere near one second?

penalty is 1 second, but advantage is probably ~0.25 sec my guess.

Nah, ran 2 sessions back to back, no difference. If anything, window down is faster cos the weather got hotter but I was running the same time(within 0.2 sec each lap) at least for me. I just like to put the window up instead of my visor down, the wind hitting my eye from T8 was pretty bad.

I estimate up to about a 0.03 second lap time improvement.

I bet William(from his source) found out everyone's lap time sooner than they did on track.
