    Default 1963 Riverside 500

    Saw this on speedhunters today thought you guys would appreciate it. This track looks like a blast what a shame its gone now. Some great footage though, I love the mechanic in the first pit stop with the cigar in his mouth haha.

    That was cool. I watched one race there as a kid. I think I saw BellWilliam set his track record there that day. It still stands.

    The 1960s and 1970s were an interesting period in NASCAR. I liked that they were actual production vehicles turned into raw, primal race cars.

    My son, who was just 4 when this photo was taken, and I got a big kick out of seeing Mario Andretti's restored Daytona 500-winning Fairlane when Andretti was guest of honor at the Monterey Historics a few years back. Pretty neat.
