The OEM radio is the biggest issue. It's positively awful.

At least it has a turbo and runs on slicks to insure that off track action happens at high velocity.
Nothing to worry about, MR2 is known to be built like a tank.

I think Moti was being sarcastic. The MR2, much like the Miata, is made out of thin sheet metal, plastic, and industrial strength hopes and dreams. It twists and bends like a politician under scrutiny.

Not that I'm arguing you should put a cage in a street car because that would be a bad idea from the perspective of safety.

All kidding aside, I agree. Don't become a cautionary tale Mark. Get a suit, HANS, gloves, shoes, fire system. Wear your gear every time you put it on track.
Get smart and buy tow vehicle. Rent or buy a cheap trailer the cage that thing.

    Mark -

Where have you been, haven't seen you post here forever . . .

Listen to the guys here about going racing and safety equipment -- you are silly fast, dressed to drive a minivan to the grocery store.

I remember towing to Chuckwalla and seeing Mark pass me on the freeway. At that moment I realized how much I missed the simplicity of tracking a street car.

As a counterpoint, I don't think I could ever go back to driving a street car to the track. The weather is often so miserable at our local tracks that this sissy needs some shelter bigger than a Miata driver seat. It was pretty cold at BRP last weekend and I saw people just sitting in their cars to get warm, looked miserable to me.

The thread was for a McLaren anyway,so why not get one for a dual purpose

    I was.
1:52 is a rocking lap time to drive that tin can dressed for a BBQ.

You're not the first guy to have been in that position where you go fast enough to need real protection but doesn't have the whole trailer and tow truck down yet.
What I have done for a number of guys before is a 3/4 cage that can be upgraded to a full cage when the time comes, it's the back half of a normal cage plus door bars.
It's obviously not as good as having a full cage when things go south, but still a significant upgrade to the driver's safety over the standard bolt in 4 pointer, and the piece where you are most likely to smack your head on isn't there so no additional risk over a normal 4 pointer for street driving.

Anyone else think its funny that CJ was required to put numbers on his car? I know the corner workers and tower need to be able to identify cars, but couldn't they just say "The iridescent million dollar hyper car"?

That car is a work of art.

Why did he have to keep his side windows open? His helmet won't even fit through that opening.
