    Default external gps

Have to pick an external gps to use for a time trial series. Have it narrowed down to qstarz bt-q818xt vs dual xgps160. Will be pairing it with race chrono as that has been working well for me lately on my android phone. Does anyone here have experience with either of those?

I have a qstarz bt, worked ok. Once i went Aim SOLO i tossed it in a drawer, then an autocrosser friend of mine swiped it and it was never seen again, so i guess he thinks it works good

I have that qstarz unit. I've used it paired to my Android, to supplement app-driven data acquisition at pretty much every track in So-Cal. It worked well at 10 hz. Sometimes estimated speed would fluctuate during long sweeping turns, indicating a loss of gps accuracy, I think.

I've used both with Race Chrono. I started with the Qstarz unit and found it works best set at 5hz with DGPS enabled. It'll do 10hz, but without DGPS.

I upgraded to the Dual, the Glosnass/GPS was a nice feature. It always aquired a lot of satellites. Too bad I didn't secure it well enough and it grew wings
    and flew off the car.

I just got a Solo 2 and plan to run the Qstarz with my phone alongside for at least one event to compare data. My feeling at this point is the right phone/external GPS setup
works well, but you can't get as deep in your analysis.

Between the two you mentioned, I'd save some money and get the Qstarz.
