Default Circuit of the Americas ???

This seems like a pretty obvious omission -- where is the COTA race track forum?

More importantly, does anybody have any information about amatuer racing events (SCCA, NASA, etc.) or open track/HPDE events scheduled at COTA in 2013? Thanks.

BMWCCA Club Racing will probably be having a race/hpde there in March. The date isn't fixed yet and I'll want to see how it lines up with the NASA schedule, but it's going to be sorely tempting.

That 3/4 mile straight might actually motivate me to get off my tail and build up this lower-ratio diff I have here..

How is the weather in Austin in March? Is that a rainy season? I know nothing about Texas . . .

1400 mile drive from LA area.

    Towing @ 55mph: 25.45 hrs

    Speeding @ 80mph: 17.5 hrs

    Not bad.

I would do it for a 3-day weekend - Friday open test, and Sat. and Sun. practice, qualifying and race. Looks like an awesome roadcourse. They were talking about naming Turn 1 "Phil Hill" on the Speed TV broadcast. Phil deserves a hill liked that named after him, rather than that mole-hill at Buttonwillow (hakeem -- yes I am beating a dead horse -- one that deserves it).

I mentioned this in one of the other threads but I think NASA should hold their Championships there in 2015 & 16. I would definitely try to make it for at least one year.

But didn't Phill Hill actually design BPR?

i was there for the F1 race( im actually still in austin now). what a fantastic looking track. drove the new F1 game at the Pirelli booth at fan fest and it was the COTA track, the little bit of the game i played was fun. watching the sports cars(458 cup and GT3 cup cars) go around the track to get a more realistic perspective of the pace of cars more like ours. i plan to get out to a track day there asap

Once you get out of California most speed limits for towing are 70-75 MPH and in a few areas it is 80 MPH.

I would not go there if I were you. Texas is too hot for liberals. When You enter the Republic your blood will start boiling.

Austin is a college town. Big for musicians, too. March is a good time to visit TX.

I have not removed your big NRA sticker from the Suburban. I'll just buy a cowboy hat, keep a low profile, and I'll be OK.

In case you guys dont know, SCCA is hosting a double national race weekend on March 7-10. It looks like you can have up to 2 practice days, Thurs and Fri.

looks like they have some big read curbs, Laguna Seca style, in a few parts of the track. I've seen numerous people brake suspension and wheels on those with only 2 visits to LS.
