    Oh jeez. There's precedent with NASA/SCCA to remove the bomb from the car for motorsport, for what that's worth.

    I'd probably say for HPDE, do whatever, I'm sure lots of people have crashed with full face and airbags and not died from the airbag. You'd think we'd have heard PSAs about it.

    For racing, they can afford to have an ugly airbagless wheel.

    I stopped taking the SCCA seriously a long time ago.

    I think you are off by a bit... It was in 2004, and the advisory was issued for people using full face helmets in air bagged equipped cars in autocross. The concern being the air bag pushing up on the front of the helmet, potentially causing injury to the neck. It was later retracted.
