Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.
But obviously I just dont get it. -fatbillybob

I raced with them for 4 years and never ran or saw a field inverted in Socal but what do I know \_(ツ)_/

SM group has been doing inverted heats off and on ever since I started with NASA. 7 years ago?

Seems to get less popular/practical with larger fields and skill disparity.

We call it "reverse grid". Great fun as long as no prizes or points are involved, then it can get messy.

With NASA SoCal Spec Miata, we usually race with Spec E30 and 944 Spec and both those groups are keen to have qualifying races on Sunday based on Saturday's finish, and that's how/why we can do it.

As Rob pointed out, when the fields are larger, or when the Teen Mazda Challenge drivers run with us, I don't generally invert the grid for safety purposes, particularly for starts.

The 32 car did leave the inside open here. I have talked to her about leaving the inside open. Especially for Rob. My advise to her is/was to not ever let Rob have a sniff of the inside. But what I like most about this video is robs mirrors filled with the the 32 car the entire session. Only thing better would have been her mirrors empty as she crossed the line.
